How do you Fair in the 9th Inning, Down by 3 Runs?
There are some people in this world who no matter what the circumstances will be able to pull off a home run hit in the ninth inning when their team is down by 3. Usually the team always depends on them to win the game and with ease they always seem to come through. There are others who under the same pressure would drop the bat before they even stepped foot on the plate. What is it about the first kind of people that make them so adept and frugally winsome at just the right times in life?
The answer is simple. The people who give up, throw in the towel and decide it is okay to fail didn’t have the motivation they needed to begin with. The reasons why they do what they do weren’t or aren’t compelling enough for them to rise to the occasion and make a winning situation no matter what. They allow their circumstances to control them, rather than control their circumstances.
The players in the game of life who come to bat expecting the home run, even when they are down and out are dramatically able to visualize their “why” or their reason for doing things in every circumstance. They are committed to their purpose and whether that purpose is to win a baseball game or make a million dollars.nothing is worth giving it up!
Creating Compulsory Reasons to Succeed
Your why will be the central, compelling reason for you to devote yourself and your time and energy to your business endeavor. Therefore, if you have not yet connected to your why you will never have enough grit, courage and determination to keep going.
If your reason for wanting more is simply to make your life a little easier, to improve the living conditions your presently have chances are you will not be able to hold out for the long run. Your “why” will not have enough meaning to move you forward. Once you acquire the things in life that you wanted or set out for you will have little left to gain so giving up will be easier. Even with more time on your hands and comforts you will become bored and les motivated.
If that is the extent of your “why” (the reason why you will set about to change your life) it’s probably not strong enough to sustain you in the tough times. There’s nothing wrong with wanting “things.” Everyone does. But things get old and soon you’re weary of them. As to leisure time, that also gets old. What do you want to do with your leisure time? That’s where your why comes into play. There must be a strong sense of purpose.
Consider the phenomena regarding those who retire and suddenly experience progressive illness and early death? Research has shown that employees who retire at age 55 have almost double the mortality risk of those who continued working into their 60s. It’s because they lost their sense of purpose for living.
Roller Coaster Actions
You may be reading this article because you have started a few online businesses, but when they didn’t take off like you thought they should, you quit.
If your why’s are not up to par then you wont succeed. Your why’s have to be relevant to significant areas of your life that truly resonate with your deepest passion and intention.otherwise you are headed for trouble.
If your reasons for succeeding or wanting to be successful are not punctuated with significance in your life then you will not be able to persevere. These people often begin, but never finish the race.
Look for the Signs.
There are tell tale signs. If you have any of these characteristics then your reasons for wanting wealth may not be enough to carry through you the battle:
Inability to achieve regular goals or procrastination Worried about what others might be thinking, or self conscious Unable to trust your decisions, worried or fearful Inability to make quick decisions that you feel good about Unsure of what you should be doing Afraid to fail or make mistakes (because you wont pick yourself back up) Lack of motivations Always planning, but never doing! Lack of organizations in actions and plans
Jim Rohn says it best.
“When you know what you want, and want it bad enough you will find a way to get it”
That’s an apt description of having a big why.
Excuses Fade Away
Take time today to write down your driving motivation for the changes you want to see happen in your life. Don’t put it off. Once you are directly connected to your why, all your excuses will lose their power over you and one by one they will fade away.
